Local, Licensed & Insured
Ever had a rug turn sticky a week after a cleaning?
That tacky feeling is detergent the machine couldn't rinse back out. It dries inside the fiber and stays put, catching whatever the next pair of shoes carries onto the rug.
More about Bluff Park
Rug pickup on the ridge
A ridge-top neighborhood with door-to-door pickup
Bluff Park runs along Shades Crest Road on the summit of Shades Mountain, a part of Hoover with its own village strip, its own art show and streets that climb to the crest. Our van makes the climb to every one of them, and the rug is collected at the door, never left at the roadside.
Inside, the technician unrolls the rug, names the fiber, checks that the colors are fast, measures it and hands you the price on paper. You approve the figure before the rug is rolled. At our plant it is dusted, washed to suit what it is made of, rinsed, dried through and inspected, then driven back up the hill, usually inside 5 to 7 business days, and unrolled where it came from.
Streets we pick up on
Shades Crest Road, Park Avenue and the streets between
The long residential run of Shades Crest Road is the spine of the pickup route, from the lookouts at Lover's Leap and Sunset Rock to the village strip between West Oxmoor Road and Park Avenue, where the Bluff Park Diner, the deli and the hardware store sit. Park Avenue, Tyler Road and Valley Street and the side streets off them are all on the same run.
The Smith Farm streets off Savoy Street, with their new houses, are on the route as well, along with the homes around the Bluff Park Community Center and the park beside it. On the way up or down, the van passes Moss Rock Preserve, whose trails are the reason so many Bluff Park rugs come to us.
The rugs in these houses
Family-room rugs, front-room wool and the hall runner
Bluff Park is single-family houses on ridge-top streets, full of families, and the rugs reflect it. The family-room rug takes muddy boots from the trails, the dog after a wet walk and whatever the kids carry in; it arrives at the plant with grit packed into its foundation, and the dusting step alone brings out a surprising amount of dry soil. Then the wash, matched to the fiber, and a rinse that leaves nothing sticky behind.
Front rooms tend to hold a wool or Oriental rug, which gets a cool, gentle hand wash after the dyes are tested, and its fringe is cleaned apart from the body of the rug. Hall runners come with us too, worked on their own so the tread lines lift. When the dog has had an accident, the technician finds it under UV at the door, and the wash at the plant takes the salts out of the foundation; the treatment comes with our 100% pet odor removal guarantee.
Everything is priced by the square foot, in writing, before the rug leaves, at one rate for wool and synthetic alike, typically around a dollar or two a square foot, and the guarantee is simple: if a spot still bothers you after the rug is home, it comes back to the plant for another wash, free. While the rugs are away, the same visit can take in the carpet and the sofa, cleaned in place and dry in about an hour.

Questions from the ridge
What Bluff Park customers ask
Can the van make it up the ridge streets off Shades Crest Road?
Yes. Our van handles the climb from I-65 or US-31 to the crest and the steep driveways off Shades Crest Road, Park Avenue and Tyler Road without trouble. The pickup is door to door: the rug is looked over, measured and priced inside the house, then carried to the van by the technician. Nothing is left at the curb, and at delivery the rug is carried back in and unrolled where it belongs.
We just moved into Smith Farm. Should the rugs be washed before the furniture goes down?
It is the best time to do it. A rug that has been rolled in a moving truck or stored in a garage carries dust and sometimes a musty smell deep in the foundation, and once the sofa and the bed are on it, nobody wants to lift them again. Book the pickup for moving week, and the rugs come back dusted, washed and fully dry as the rooms are being set up. Construction dust comes out in the same wash.
Can mud from the Moss Rock trails be washed out of a rug?
Yes. Dried mud is mostly fine grit, and grit is exactly what the dusting step at the plant removes before the rug is washed. What dusting leaves behind, the wash and the rinse take care of. The one honest caveat is that mud carried in over months works down into the foundation and wears the fibers, so a rug by the back door does better with a regular wash than with a scrub when it looks bad.
Do you pick up on Saturdays?
Yes. Our schedule is Monday through Saturday, 7 AM to 5 PM, so a Saturday morning pickup is easy to get for Bluff Park families who are home then. Book online or call or text the office, pick the day, pick the time, and the technician is at the door then. If you need the rug back for a particular weekend, say so when you book and we tell you honestly whether the usual 5 to 7 business days will get it there.
