Dusting comes before washing, every time. The dry step is the one that matters most for a lake rug or an office runner, because the sand and the grit that make a rug look tired sit under the pile, and water alone just moves them around. Do you pick up rugs from offices as well as homes?
Yes. Law offices, county offices, churches and waiting rooms book the same pickup a homeowner does. The technician measures each runner and rug, writes one price for the lot, and takes them out on the day you choose, Monday through Saturday between 7 AM and 5 PM. If the office cannot be without its runners for a week, send half now and half when the first half is back.
Can a rug that lives by the lake door come back without the smell?
Yes. The smell in a lake rug comes from damp soil and wet feet that never fully dried out of the foundation. At the plant the rug is dusted, washed through, rinsed and then dried completely before it is rolled, which is the step a rug on a porch never gets. It comes home smelling of nothing. If a dog has used it as well, say so at booking and it gets the pet treatment on top.
Our lab sleeps on the hall runner. Can the dog hair and the smell be washed out?
Yes. Hair that a vacuum rolls over comes loose in the dusting and leaves in the wash and the rinse, along with the dander and the smell that come with it. A rug that has been the dog's bed for a few years may also have accidents you cannot see, so the technician runs a UV light over it at pickup and tells you what the wash will and will not take care of before you decide.
Can the cotton flat-weave from a lake-house porch be washed?
Both. Cotton dhurries and other flat-weaves are washed at the plant like any other rug, with the method matched to the fiber. Cotton drinks up water and will brown if left to dry slowly, so it gets a lighter wash and goes on its own drying schedule. Dyes on a flat-weave are tested at your door first, because the colors sit closer to the surface than they do on a pile rug.
I work at the courthouse all day. Where do you leave the rug if nobody is home at delivery?
Wherever you tell us. Most people pick a covered porch, a garage with the code, or a neighbor. The rug comes back rolled and wrapped and is left exactly where you asked. If you would rather see it unrolled and look it over with the technician, pick a day when you will be there and we deliver then. You pay after you have seen the rug, so there is no need to pay for anything sight unseen.
