Where we came from

A question customers kept asking

Rug Runners grew out of something people kept saying to our sister company, LocalPro Carpet Cleaning: can you do anything about this rug? A carpet machine can freshen a synthetic rug on the floor. It cannot get the grit out of a wool rug's foundation, flush a pet accident out of the knots, or bring fringe back to white. Those jobs need a wash, and a wash needs a plant. So the family built one, and Rug Runners is the company that runs it.

Our sister company cleans carpet in homes across the area. Rug Runners specializes in rugs, at our plant or in your home, and cleans carpet, upholstery and mattresses too. When both are needed, one visit covers it: the technician who rolls up your rug can clean the carpet it was lying on before the van pulls away.

Who comes to the door

Our own people, every time

Everyone who arrives at your house works for us: trained by us, insured, on our payroll, never a subcontractor with our name on a magnet. The technician who unrolls the rug on your floor is the person who answers for it, and the office you call or text is ours.

That matters more with rugs than with most things. A hand-knotted wool rug or a silk piece from a grandmother's house is not a job to hand to whoever had a free afternoon. The person who tests its dyes at your door is trained for exactly that, and the plant it goes to is ours.

What happens at the plant

The wash, in five honest steps

The look at your door

Nothing gets rolled up first. The technician reads the fiber, tests whether the dyes hold, names any mark that will lighten but not leave, measures it, and writes the price down. You decide with the number in front of you.

Dusting, before any water

Before the rug gets wet, the dry grit is knocked out of its foundation. It comes out as a gray powder, and on a rug that has waited years for a wash there is a startling amount of it.

A wash for the fiber it is

Wool is washed cool and gently. Silk and viscose get less water and no scrubbing. Cotton, jute and sisal are washed light and dried fast. Synthetics take a harder wash. Fringe is cleaned on its own, every time.

Rinsed and dried through

A full rinse leaves nothing sticky in the pile, and the rug is dried completely, flat, before anyone rolls it. A damp rug rolled early is where smells begin, so this step is never hurried.

Inspected and brought home

Pile, ends and edges get a last look, then the rug rides back to your door, usually inside five to seven business days. You unroll it, check it, and only then pay.

Our promise

Satisfaction guaranteed, on every rug we wash

When the rug comes home, look at it in your own light and point at anything you would like washed again. It goes back to the plant and comes back at no charge, whether you notice at the door or days later. Pet treatments carry their own 100% pet odor removal guarantee, and no money changes hands until the rug is down on your floor again and you have seen it.

Hours and where we go

Six days a week, across the Birmingham area

Pickups, deliveries and in-home visits run Monday through Saturday, 7 AM to 5 PM, and the office answers calls and texts the same hours. The van covers Birmingham itself and the suburbs over the mountain, then runs down I-65 through the Shelby County towns, east to Trussville, Leeds, Moody and Pell City, north to Gardendale and Pinson, west to Bessemer and McCalla, south as far as Clanton, and over to Tuscaloosa and Northport. Pickup and delivery are free in all of it, with no travel fee anywhere we serve.

About Rug Runners

Questions about who we are

Is Rug Runners the same company as LocalPro Carpet Cleaning?

Same family, two companies. Rug Runners Rug Cleaning is the rug specialist: rugs are washed at our plant with free pickup and delivery or cleaned in your home, and our technicians also clean carpet, upholstery, mattresses, tile and hardwood. LocalPro Carpet Cleaning is our sister company for carpet cleaning in the home. The technicians are trained the same way and the office works the same way, so if you have used one, the other will feel familiar.

Who actually comes to pick up my rug?

One of our own employees, trained by us and insured, driving a Rug Runners van. We do not send subcontractors or a courier. The technician unrolls the rug, checks the fiber and tests the dyes, puts a tape on it and writes the price down with you watching, and the person who brings it back goes over it with you before you pay.

Can I bring my rug to you myself?

Pickup is how a rug reaches us, and it costs nothing anywhere we serve, so there is no reason to wrestle a heavy rug into a car. Book a day online or by text, leave the rug where it lies, and the technician does the lifting. The delivery works the same way in reverse, with a text when the van is on its way.

What does satisfaction guaranteed mean on a rug?

It means you decide whether the rug is done. When it comes home, look it over in your own light and point at anything you would like washed again. We take it back, wash it again and return it at no charge, whether you notice at the door or a few days later. Pet treatments carry their own 100% pet odor removal guarantee on top.

How far out does the van go?

Every town on our service area page, from the suburbs over the mountain down I-65 to Clanton, east to Pell City, north to Pinson, west to McCalla, and over to Tuscaloosa and Northport, and pickup and delivery are free in all of them. If your town is not on that page, text (205) 421-3993 with your ZIP and the office will answer.

Satisfaction guaranteed on every rug.
