On the pickup visit the technician can also do the carpet, bedrooms and stairs both, plus sofas, chairs and mattresses, all where they sit. The carpet is cleaned with little water, the soil is lifted out with cleaning pads, nothing sticky stays behind, and the room is walkable in about an hour. Non-toxic, and safe around the kids and the dog. Upholstery is matched to its care code.
For a move to a patio home, rugs you are not keeping out can be washed, wrapped and stored with the terms agreed in writing, and the ones you are keeping get the wash before they go down in the new place.
A runner or a rug is priced on one thing, its square footage; the fiber decides the wash, not the rate. Expect the cleaning to start, on average, near one or two dollars for each square foot, wool or synthetic, with every booking starting at $99. The figure on the bill is the figure written at your door.

A runner is a rug, and it gets the full wash. Dusting first, dry, to shake the grit out of the foundation that has been cutting the fibers every day. Then the wash matched to the fiber: a hard wash for synthetics, which most runners and playroom rugs are; a cool wash and a flat dry for wool; low water and no scrubbing for silk and viscose; a light wash and a quick dry for cotton, jute and sisal.
The big rug from an open-plan living room is handled the same way, only slower on the dry, because a thick rug is never rolled before it is dry all the way through. Fringe is washed by itself. Edges that have started to fray are noted at your door and can be bound or serged after the wash, quoted separately.

Old Town streets are narrow. Can the van still get to my door?
Yes. The technician brings the van as close as the street allows and walks the rest; a rolled rug is carried out by hand at every pickup anyway. Leave the rug flat where it is, with the furniture on it, and it is looked over, measured and priced in writing in place before it is rolled. The delivery is the same trip backward.
Can a hallway runner be washed like a rug?
A runner is a rug, just a long one, and it goes through the same steps: dusted dry, washed by its fiber, rinsed, dried flat and inspected. Runners are among the most common things we collect, because they take more steps than anything else in the house. They are measured by the square foot, so a runner is priced like any other rug.
We are downsizing to a patio home. Can you wash and wrap the rugs we are not keeping out?
Yes. Rugs you are not using right away are washed, dried completely, wrapped and stored, on terms put in writing before anything leaves your house. The ones going into the new place get the wash first too, so nothing dirty goes down on new floors. Tell the office it is a move when you book and we plan the pickup with your moving day in mind.
What does the technician check before the rug leaves my house?
Four things, with you watching. The fiber, pile and backing both, which decides the wash. The dyes, tested so a color that may run is known before the wash. The construction and condition, including loose edges, thin spots and any mark that may only fade. And the size, measured and written on the price you approve. All of it takes a few minutes at the door.
Our rug has a loose edge and a corner that curls. Can that be fixed when it is washed?
Usually, yes. Edge binding and serging, fringe repair, patching and reweaving all happen after the wash, with the rug clean and dry so the damage shows properly. The technician notes the loose edge at pickup, the wash goes ahead on the written price you approved, and the repair is quoted separately before any of it is done. You decide on the repair with its own price in hand.
