The newer houses off Highway 69 and Mitt Lary Road run to hard floors with area rugs on top, and the older subdivisions to carpet upstairs and rugs down. Either way one visit covers it: the rugs ride out, and the technician who collected them cleans the carpet, the sofa and the mattresses where they are, using little water, so it is dry in about an hour and leaves no sticky film for next week's dirt to catch on. The price is by the square foot, at a rate that does not depend on the fiber. Expect a rug to come in near a dollar or two a square foot on average. A natural-fiber rug, wool or silk or cotton or jute, sits at that same rate and gets a gentler wash for it. The job minimum is $99. You watch it being measured and you hold the written figure before the rug goes out the door.

Northport streets on the route
Northwood Lake, Bristol Park, Huntington Place and downtown
The van comes up McFarland Boulevard, US-82, across the Black Warrior River and works outward from there: downtown Northport along Main Avenue by the Kentuck Art Center, the small homes of Bellwood, and East Northport around Rice Mine Road and Bridge Avenue. Huntington Place, with its brick and fiber-cement traditionals, sits close to McFarland and is usually an early stop.
Up Highway 69 toward Lake Tuscaloosa the route takes in Northwood Lake, where the ranch and bi-level homes often have a basement with a rug in it, then Forest Glen and Glen Crest. Along Mitt Lary Road it reaches Bristol Park, the newer brick four- and five-bedroom homes near the Publix at Mitt Lary and Highway 69.

Is Northport really on your pickup list, this far west?
It is. Northport and Tuscaloosa share a route day, and the van comes up McFarland Boulevard across the river on that day to collect and deliver on the north bank. There is no travel fee and no mileage charge; pickup and delivery are free here exactly as they are in the towns an hour east. Book by call, text or online and the office pins down the first route day with room, and your arrival time on it.
Do I have to bring the rug across the bridge to you?
No. There is nowhere to drop a rug, because we come to the house. If you work across the river and will not be home, send a yes to the written price by text before the route day and say which room the rug is rolled up in; the technician measures it, confirms the figure matches, and takes it from there. For delivery, say where to leave it and the rug is unrolled and set in place when you are back.
The kids have wrecked the basement playroom rug at our Northwood Lake house. Can it be washed?
Almost certainly. A synthetic playroom rug is the toughest kind we see, and it can take a hard wash, a long rinse and a full dry without complaint. Juice, mud and crayon come out; a marker stain or a spot that set years ago may fade without vanishing, and the technician points those out at pickup so you know before you say yes. It comes back dry, soft and smelling of nothing.
Do you wash rugs and runners from an office near Northport Medical Center?
Yes. Lobby runners, entry mats and the rug in a waiting room along Mitt Lary Road are washed exactly like a rug from a living room, matched to the fiber, and several can ride on one pickup.
