On the larger lots toward the county lines, the living-room rug is often the biggest textile in the house, and the dogs know it. Nobody is dragging a twelve-foot wool rug to the driveway to hose it, and a quick clean on the floor leaves the grit in the foundation and the rug damp.
So the technician comes to it, and kneels down to it where it lies: what fiber, will the dye hold, which marks are stains and which are scars, how many square feet. The price is on paper before the rug is lifted, and if the number does not suit you, the rug stays home.
If it does, the rug is rolled, carried out and driven to our plant, with the furniture put back on the way out. Some 5 to 7 business days later it comes home dusted, washed, rinsed, fully dried and inspected, and you look it over before any money changes hands.

Grit first. A rug off a hardwood floor near downtown or a carpeted bedroom by Grand River keeps the bulk of its dirt down in the foundation, and the plant's first move is to shake that out of the rug dry, so it never turns to mud in the pile.
What a rug is made of decides how wet it gets, how warm, how long, and how it dries: wool cool and flat; silk and viscose barely damp; cotton, jute and sisal washed light and dried fast; polypropylene and nylon as hard as they need. Fringe is washed by itself.
Rinse, dry all the way through, inspect. A big rug takes longer to dry and we do not rush it, because a rug rolled damp is how a smell starts. The whole process is on our rug cleaning page.

Can you pick up from a house down a long gravel drive?
Yes. The van comes up the drive to the door at every Leeds address, and the acreage toward the county lines is a regular part of the route, with no travel fee for the distance. Leave the rug flat where it is; the technician looks it over, measures it and prices it in writing in place, then rolls it and carries it out. If the drive is hard to find, text a landmark along with the address.
Do you come out to the Grand River side as well as downtown?
Both, and the acreage beyond them. My rug sits on hardwood floors. Will it come back damp?
No. A rug is never rolled at our plant until it is dry all the way through, and it is checked again before it goes on the van. A damp rug would mark a hardwood floor and start to smell, which is exactly why the drying is never hurried. If a large or thick rug needs an extra day, the technician says so at pickup.
Can a business on the Parkway book a rug pickup?
Yes. Entry runners, lobby rugs and the rugs in a waiting area are collected in business hours any day but Sunday and priced in writing on the spot. Count on 5 to 7 business days without the rug, so keep something down by the door in the meantime. The carpet in the shop or office can be cleaned on the same visit.
Can you bring gray fringe back to white?
Usually most of the way. Fringe is cleaned separately from the rug body, and cotton fringe that has gone gray from foot traffic comes back far lighter. Fringe that is stained through, worn thin or already breaking is a repair job, which is quoted separately after the wash. The technician says at pickup which of the two yours is.
