The rugs leave; the carpet and the sofas get cleaned in the house
Most homes here have three bedrooms or more, and the bedrooms are usually where the carpet is. With the rugs gone, that carpet, the stairs, the sofa and the mattresses can be cleaned where they sit by the technician who collected the rugs, using little water and leaving no residue, dry in about an hour. One arrival time covers all of it. Upholstery and mattresses are cleaned by their care code.

Two numbers decide it: the square footage the technician measures in front of you, and one rate for every fiber. That rate runs on average from around a dollar to two dollars a square foot, for synthetics and for the natural fibers both; the naturals get the gentler wash, not a different number. No booking comes to less than $99, and the figure is written down before anything is rolled.

A lake-house rug at the plant
Sand, dog and lake, taken out of the rug in the right order
Sand first. It sits in the foundation of a lake-house rug and saws at the fibers with every step across it, and it comes out dry, in the dusting, before the rug is washed. On a rug that has spent a season by the water, that step takes out more than people expect.
The deck-traffic synthetics are washed hard. Wool is washed cool and laid flat to dry. Cotton and jute are dried quickly so they keep their color. Silk gets the least water of all. Fringe is cleaned by itself. If a dog has marked the rug, a UV light shows where, and the urine salts are rinsed out of the foundation rather than covered up.

We are only at the lake house on weekends. Can you work around that?
Yes. Book the pickup for a Saturday or any weekday you are there, since someone has to approve the written price before the rug leaves. At pickup we agree a delivery day that suits you, usually 5 to 7 business days later, and if a large rug or a pet treatment will take longer the technician says so then. You pay at delivery, after you have looked the rug over.
Is Pell City really inside the free pickup area?
It is. Pickup and delivery are free at every address we serve, and there is no travel fee for the drive out I-20. What you pay for is the wash, measured by the square foot and written down at your door, and nothing else. The van runs Monday through Saturday, 7 AM to 5 PM.
Do you pick up from the lofts and offices downtown on Cogswell Avenue?
Yes. A loft rug, an office entry runner or the rugs in a waiting room are collected during business hours and priced on paper there and then. If the building has stairs, leave the rug where it lies; the technician rolls it and carries it down. Plan on 5 to 7 business days without it, and the office carpet can be done on the same booking.
Can you clean a cowhide from the lake house?
Yes. A hide is not washed like a wool rug; it is cleaned with its hair and its backing in mind, and it never goes in the same water. Mention it when you book, leave it flat, and the technician looks it over at the door and writes the price down with the rest. It comes back on the same delivery as the other rugs.
Can you clean the sofa and the mattresses at the lake house on the pickup visit?
Yes. Upholstery and mattresses are cleaned in the home by the technician who collects the rugs. The care code on the sofa decides the method, so a cotton slipcover and a microfiber sectional are handled differently, and the bedroom carpet can be done on the same trip. One visit, one written price, and the rugs come back on a day you are at the lake.
